Changemakers Initiative: Bringing Education and Joy to Underprivileged Children

Every year, the Department of Geography at National P.G. College organizes the Changemaker campaign, an initiative aimed at creating positive societal impact. In the 2023–24 session, a dedicated student group — Tanishka Lekhwar, Anushka Verma, Deeksha Verma, Nitya Shukla, Pooja Khatri, and Pragati Agrawal — took part in the campaign, driven by the belief that “Everyone has the right to education.”

As part of the initiative, the group also organized a Ganesh Chaturthi cultural celebration on 6 September, 2024 for underprivileged children living in slum areas, using minimal, locally available resources. The stage was decorated with dupattas and paper flowers, and the event featured singing, dancing, and poetry recitations, with rewards given to encourage participation. Children and their families joined in enthusiastically, creating a joyful and memorable atmosphere.

As Mahatma Gandhi once said, “Be the change you want to see in the world” — a principle this initiative continues to embody.
